CR1 spouse visa is for a spouse of a US citizen that has been married to the US citizen for less than 2 years.  CR1 spouse visa applicants must prove they have a legitimate relationship using joint property documents, joint bank accounts, insurance papers with the spouse as the beneficiary, wedding photos, emails, phone records, birth certificates of children together and affidavits of family and friends with knowledge of the relationship.

US sponsors must prove you can support your fiancee above the US poverty line, which can be found on the US Department of Health and Human Services website.  CR1 spouse visa applicants can have a co-sponsor to help them meet the income requirements if they cannot meet them on their own. 

CR1 spouse visa applicants must also prove they maintain a US domicile they will return to within 6 months using documents such as utility bills, property deeds or leases, bank accounts, state tax records, voting records and employer or business records.

CR1 spouse visa applicants do not have to adjust their status, but are required to file for removal of conditions within 90 days after of their 2 year anniversary of their arrival in the US.  CR1 spouse visa applicants will receive an official 2 year green card in the mail 2 - 3 months after arrival and are able to work immediately after arrival in the US.

CR1 spouse visa applications have a very high rate of approval in most cases.  CR1 spouse visa applications normally take 8 months to process depending on the caseload of USCIS and US Embassy in the country of residence.
